Openstores design how-to: How to add ad-hoc feature products into the Home page

1. Login your store Admin Panel, and select menu 'Theme-Layout' -> 'Theme and Layouts'.

2. Click the 'design' button next to the editing theme to open the design window.

3. Scroll down to the 'Page Layout and Styles' section. Within the 'Middle Column' section select 'Home Page', then select 'Adhoc Feature Products' in the Add content drop down and add it into Home page middle column.

4. Scroll up to see the newly added content box. The system will initially display three new arrival products.

Click the pen icon at the top right corner of the box to open the box edit form.

5. Click the search icon to open the Search products window. Find and select the product you would like to display in the box. Up to 4 products can be added to one box

6. Repeat step 3 to 5 to add more ad-hoc feature products box into the page.

7. Save the theme before publishing to the storefront.

 

How to add a full screen image background in openstores

Follow these steps to add a full screen image background like the Flower Background demo site.

1. Login your store Admin Panel, and select menu 'Theme-Layout' -> 'Theme and Layouts'.
2. Click the 'design' button next to the editing theme to open the design window.
3. Scroll down to the 'Global Styles' section. Click the plus icon to expand the Global styles edit form.

4. Click the icon next to the 'Body Images' to add a new row in the image table. Click the upload icon under the 'Image' column to upload the background image.
As seen in the screenshot - tick the 'Display' checkbox, enter 100% into Height box, select 'Back' in the Layer dropdown, select 'Window' in the 'Related Position' dropdown, and Select to show in 'All Pages'.

5. Save the theme before publishing it.

1. Login your store Admin Panel, and select menu 'Theme-Layout' -> 'Theme and Layouts'.
2. Click the 'design' button next to the editing theme to open the design window.
3. Scroll down to the Add menus section within the design window. Select either 'Standard Top Menu' or 'Category Dropdown menu' from the content drop down list and add it into the Top area.

4. Scroll up to see the newly added menu. Click the pen icon located at the top right corner of the menu. The menu edit form will be expanded under the menu. Open the menu item edit window by clicking the pen icon next to the 'Menu'.

5. Add new items or remove any existing items. Move up or down to reorder the menu.
The middle drop down list contains the system pages, such as the My account, Check out, and Basket pages, as well as the self-defined static pages and product category pages. But if you would like to add an menu item to the external web site such as Facebook or Blog, enter the full URL (starts with http:// or https://) in the External URL box.

6. After finished editing save and return to the main design window. The updated menu items will be displayed in the design window. Remember to save the theme before publishing to the storefront.

Further to our last Design Tool update, more features were added this month. The newsletter can also be viewed on our website.

New features available on the Design Tool

This is the first blog from Intelliworks OpenStores. We plan to announce new updates and provide some user tips more often to our customers.

At the end of last year we started adding more features to the design tool. If you haven't seen our newsletter of it you can view it online. Soon the second update of the design tool will be announced and the newsletter will be sent out. These new features help to make the website more modern and unique. We would love to hear your feedback on these enhancements.
